Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (AS) was the fifth Imam of Shia Islam. He is known for expanding Islamic knowledge and jurisprudence.
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (AS) was born in 676 CE in Medina. He was the fifth Imam and is known as "al-Baqir" (the one who splits knowledge open). He established a school of learning and trained many scholars. He was martyred by poisoning in 743 CE in Medina.
