Imam Muhammad al-Mahdi (AS) is the twelfth and final Imam of Shia Islam. He is in occultation and will reappear to establish justice on Earth.
Imam Muhammad al-Mahdi (AS) was born in 869 CE in Samarra. He is the twelfth and final Imam of Shia Islam. He went into minor occultation (ghaybah al-sughra) in 874 CE and major occultation (ghaybah al-kubra) in 941 CE. He is the awaited savior who will reappear before the Day of Judgment to establish justice and peace on Earth. He is also known as the "Awaited One" (al-Muntazar) and "The Proof of Allah" (Hujjatullah).
